It was an awesome experience. My wife and I got to meet one of the participants of the Bloody Sunday during the early civil rights movement . Not only did we get to meet Ms. Bland, but we got to hear how the movement started. I would definitely encourage everyone to take a trip to Selma, AL. for an in person experience.
Its so peaceful to walk over the bridge and look at the beautiful surroundings.
An important place in American history. Walk over the bridge and try to imagine having the courage to march towards a mob of angry racists ready to beat you.
The feeling I experienced being there is difficult to describe... pride, sadness, hope, honor all at once. The town itself appeared abandoned and forgotten; but it was well worth the trip! Don't expect much of a choice of places to eat. The one place that was recommended was closed while we were there.
