I have just experienced the worst customer service from a retail store today. I called Aaron's at approximately 2:20 pm on a Saturday(8/05/17) to pay on a family member's account and Tawanna answered the phone without identifying herself and after stating why I called she placed me on hold and when she returned and I asked for her name and it was given in a condescending tone, I decided I did not feel comfortable giving my credit card info over the phone to this individual. So, when I told her that and I did tell her that I was not in Selma but Florida, she stated I could pay it online and hung up the receiver. Mind you, she did not give me any info on how to do it online or any instructions of any kind before hanging up in my face. I immediately called back and the phone rang more than 9 times before I got a weird tone that sounded like a long beep. So I hung up and called again and Mary answered this time, I told her what had transpired, asked if she was a manager to which she said no, so I asked for the manager and she states he was gone for the day. I told her about the interaction with Tawanna and she apologized for it I think. I asked how could I pay the bill online and she gave me the info and I needed my family member's last 4 to do it, and I did not have it so I verified the managers name, Austin, and hung up.
First of all, I am not a customer and after today and that caliber of customer service, I never will be. I work as a Health Benefits Advisor dealing with people all day and I would never treat a customer that way, it was unprofessional and unnecessary. I recommend a few customer service training sessions and phone etiquette training for Ms. Tawanna or maybe a career change. I did not feel comfortable with giving my credit card information to this individual was a good idea just by her attitude and tone on the phone, now I know it wasn't. Good luck keeping customers and building your business with people like this working for you. If the calls are recorded for quality assurance, I recommend that they are monitored from time to time so you know how your employees speak to your customers.
